What better way to launch my new blog than to highlight the birthday and life of my 90 year old mother, The Duchess of Freshwater. Thirty-five of us celebrated her birthday with "high tea" at a local B & B, The Iris House. Mother enjoyed talking to many old friends, her four children, six of her ten grandchildren, and one of two great-grandchildren, three nieces, and a grandniece. It was a proper tea, fit for one of the grandest ladies in Humboldt County: scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, jams, sandwiches, meat pies, and several types of tea. Of course, most of the women wore their finest hats and we all agreed that this was something that needed to be encouraged more frequently. One thing we all love about mother is her zest for life and new adventures, including this fun party.

Great blog Michele. Looks like aunt Jonny had a big party. Love the hats. The kids look happy and healthy. Pass on my love to all.
