Photo Class Project

What a fun photo class I've had with 20 people who are really good photographers and supportive critics. My topic is "Signs of the Time", primarily because I'm a word geek. I love crossword puzzles because they make me think outside of the box. "21 Across: Kramden's pal on the Honeymooners" is a giveaway, but things like "42 Down: Coats" will get me every time because I'm thinking raincoat, blazer, smoking jacket, etc. and what they really mean is "covers" as in painting. Many of my photographs have images of signs that make me think about their meaning: who posted the sign, why, and might the sign have a meaning that wasn't intended by the person/entity posting it. I took the photo below, partly because of all of the colors and wonderful artwork. It cover the entire front of a building. I was more than annoyed that people with handicaps needed to use a side entrance (it is an old building and they had little choice), but when I really looked at this image I realized that the sign is hand-painted and is set inside images that send out message of care. Aaaaaaah, a crossword moment.
