Risky Business

I take frequent walks in the Arcata Forest and pass this sign on the way to the main trail; it has always amused me. This part of the trail is steep, mountain lions have been spotted, and of course, this being Arcata, pot-smoking young folks can be out and about, but they are harmless. Don't inhale. Does the public really need to be warned about natural conditions? It reminds me of a sign posted on the inside of the door of a wall oven, "Do not stand on this door". Well, now that I look at the picture, those trees do look like awfully big brutes. Maybe I'd better taking up bicycling. No. I'll take trees over cars.
